Hello !

I just noticed something in Etherscan.io, I don't know since how long it's here but have you seen the "spam" category when you look at your token ?

Image

It comes from a shitty airdrop I had few weeks ago, and when I click on it, here's what is shows :

Image

So now, you can know when a shitty airdrop is in your wallet :) I don't know how they determine which is a "legit" token or not, but it's a really good move from Etherscan !

What do you think about this initiative ? And how many scam do you have in your ETH wallet ?

I don't usually use etherscan so I hadn't noticed this before - but when I checked it out - I had one token
Image

clicking on it - it said it came from an address using a refereum (assuming phishing-style) website. When I went back to find it again, its gone lol!

It wasn't the token I thought was gonna trigger as spam - I have some of the junkmail tokens from the project "Level Up Coin Diamond" play2live.io 777.00 LUCD - this should be classed as spam if anything. Its a discount code similar to a junkmail coupon you get in the mail, with no value whatsoever :(
If in doubt please check the rules - app.php/rules

I also have it.
and strangely they can not be transferred or lost.
I was very scared if anything happened with my wallet.
and I hope the MEW creator should always filter this incident.
I hope the right action.

@FreeCoins It must be hard for the dev to prevent these kind of shitcoin, they can know it only after the release of the token.
That's part of the Cryptoland's magic somewhere... well, I guess too many people got screwed

Ok I have bad news for us all !

I juste look at the contract address of this "JUST" token (it has evolved...), and a hacker just managed to... "hack" the ERC20 system. wanna know how ? They tell it themselves... on their contract data :

Code: Select all

// blaze it fgt ^

/*
* Team JUST presents...
                                                 ,----,                ,----,

* -> What?
* [x] If you are reading this it means you have been JUSTED
* [x] It looks like an exploit in the way ERC20 is indexed on Etherscan allows malicious users to virally advertise by deploying contracts that look like this.
* [x] You pretty much own this token forever, with nothing you can do about it until we pull the UNJUST() function.
* [x] Just try to transfer it away, we dare you!
* [x] It's kinda like shitposting on the blockchain
* [x] Pls fix Papa Vitalik

Pretty cool no ?

They even made a very good joke

so the statement is clear : DO NOT MOVE THESE TOKEN FROM YOUR WALLET !!!

They send it randomly to ERC20 adress, so there's nothing we can prevent from this shit. However, I don't know what will happen if you move another token from your wallet.

For your information.

Some days ago I click near the word spam on something like an EDIT icon on the left of the "strange token" and...
the token is disappeared and the token counter decrease by 1.

I don't know if is the UNJUST function mentioned in the code.

I hope that nothing is compromised in my wallet (that I use normally in the day after).
I think that nothing is compromised because etherscan is simply a viewer.

Is there an option in Etherscan to mark something as Spam or do they do it for you? I got these 777 Ins promo tokens which are worthless but i cant mark them as Spam.

I checked it on Etherscan.io and its not a spam button but its the reputation they add to a coin or token.

These are the reputations a token can have:

1) 'UNKNOWN' reputation

All tokens in the Token Tracker defaults to this reputation state

2) 'NEUTRAL' reputation

Additional Token information has been provided (i.e Official Website Links, Logo, etc) but we are unable or cannot decide on a reputation score appropriate for this Token.

3) 'OK' reputation

An OK reputation is not an endorsement, but it is of our opinion (and at our own discretion) that the project has (either or a combination of the following criterias):

a. provided sufficient and accurate information

b. clear project goals and communication

c. visible profile of the project founders/backers/advisers

d. no significant 'red' flags (that we were aware of at the point of time the reputation score was assigned)

e. the token is traded/listed on a major crypto exchange which has AML/KYC checks (i.e coinbase, poloniex, kraken, bittrex, yunbi or a similiar exchange)

4) 'SUSPICIOUS' reputation

There has been reports of scam/phishing/fraud/spam or misrepresentation of information related to this Token contract that have not been adequately addressed and/or other 'red' flags.

5) 'UNSAFE' reputation.

There has been substantial and credible reports of scam/phishing/fraud/spam or misrepresentation of information related to this Token contract that have not been adequately addressed, listed in a public 'scam' database and/or other red 'flags'.

6) 'SPAM' reputation.

Token Name and/or Symbol contains url/scripts/refCodes or other "spam attributes"

Thank for the information I do check things on etherscan so I know what your talking about. good catch. Though I wonder if it is advise able to send all your legit coins to a new wallet and delete that wallet. I don't trust hackers Thief's they have your public addy . they say your safe with your private keys off line. With new quantum algorithms coming into play I feel its questionable.

I thought about doing something like this but another question came into my mind : "they just have to check where my assets were sent to have the new one also..."
So, I don't know.

Some of my wallets didn't have any "spam" token, but will it stay the same if I transfer some asset into it ?
